Dear fellow angler, name is Derek Grzelewski and I'd like
to introduce you to my fly fishing guide service in Wanaka,
and to my fly fishing school. I am one of the lucky folks
living here in Wanaka – a small South Island, New Zealand,
town about 45 minutes' drive from Queenstown. We have the
stunning mountain scenery, the sunshine, the Vivaldi four
seasons weather. And we have superb trout waters: several
lakes, and numerous rivers and streams – even a spring creek
that runs through the middle of town. Better still, we have an
ALL–YEAR FISHING SEASON. Around Wanaka and Queenstown, there
is always somewhere you can go flyfishing for trout.
Depending on the level of your
skills, enthusiasm, available time and family/companions
commitments, WANAKA FLYFISHING and WANAKA FLY–FISHING ACADEMY
can offer your the following services:
Guided
Flyfishing and Fly Fishing Safaris.
Full-day or multi-day
adventures. The choice of several lakes, rivers and many
mountain streams makes fly fishing around Wanaka a truly
amazing New Zealand experience. Our Guided Fly-fishing
adventures however are not limited to Wanaka. We roam and fish
anywhere around the bottom half of New Zealand's South Island:
Southern Lakes, Clutha River, Queenstown, West Coast,
Fiordland, Southland and the Mackenzie Basin. Access is by
4x4, helicopter or raft, with a possibility of overnight
stay-overs and camp-out trips into the more remote areas. Each
safari is custom-made to suit your angling desires, season,
weather and water conditions. Your Wanaka Flyfishing guides
provide you with all the transport, equipment, waders and a
fabulous picnic lunch. All Wanaka Flyfishing guides are

For novices and improvers we
also offer personalised INTRODUCTION TO FLY-FISHING and
IMPROVE YOUR FLYFISHING seminars. Ideally 3 to 5 days in
duration, these programs provide a comprehensive overview of
all major fly-fishing techniques. From dry fly to winter
Tongariro-style fishing, this "fly fishing school" will help
you become a fully-hackled angler. You will learn in an
informal and relaxed atmosphere, in Nature's fantastic
classroom – the lakes and rivers of the Wanaka region.
